I hear your cries, Like icy daggers they rip through my warmth,
Silencing my smile and laughter.
You see me in the light, A shadow misplaced,
Wandering around the others like some spirit trapped between realms.
Few but you approach, and in turn you were wounded but yet gained.
This light is cold, unwelcoming, angering to me.
I prefer the darkness, where I am no longer alone in the crowd,
Where my wings can finally be seen and touched if only one cares to look.
I watch from afar in the dark, I see you cry yet fake a smile for others.
Dont fake your smiles for me.
I am always here, A Shadow Guardian amongst the crowd of beasts,
My tendril wings of shadow open and waiting for when you need me.
I slip away and draw back when not needed,
Or when it is not my place to stand,
Nevertheless I am still there, Waiting and watching,
You and others,
Protecting all even when I am wounded and sick.
Behind my facades lurks a cruel mind,
A small and battered heart that flutters weakly,
And wings no one will ever see.
I am still here none the less.
